8. It is strictly prohibited to use non-explosion-proof lighting, electrical facilities, tools and electronic equipment in the oil and gas tank area.
This article mainly stipulates the requirements
for the use of explosion-proof equipment in oil and gas tank farms. The media
stored in oil and gas tank farms are generally flammable and explosive. The use
of non-explosion-proof tools, electrical facilities, and communication
equipment in the oil and gas tank farms poses greater safety hazards and is
prone to accidents.
Typical accident case:
On June 29, 2010, a
deflagration accident occurred in a crude oil storage tank of Petro China
Liaoyang Petrochemical, causing 5 deaths and 5 injuries. The main cause of the
accident was that the hydrocarbon combustibles in the crude oil tank reached
the explosive limit during the cleaning operation, which encountered electric
sparks from non-explosion-proof general lighting connected to crude oil storage
tanks, resulting in deflagration accidents.
